The parish Church of the Holy Resurrection in Papua, New Guinea is pastored by Fr. Athanasius and Fr. Dcn. Chrysostomos. Though this parish’s roots have been planted in Papuan soil for a while now, both Fr. Athanasius and Fr. Dcn. Chrysostomos were ordained to their respective positions only last year. Both of these clergy are on fire for Orthodoxy and have made some hard choices in order to grow the Church in Papua.

Fr. Athanasius donated his house to build the church although both he and Fr. Chrysostomos have no other place to live. They and their wives currently live in little rooms off the sides of the church, using the open porch of the church as their kitchen and common space. During this time, they have been using all the resources that they can spare to build up the church, including a beautiful little dome which has been recently placed on the top of the church.

Fr. Dcn. Chrysostomos runs a college outreach program at a local college and has lead many of the students to the Faith. They both lead outreach trips into the surrounding area to teach the people about Orthodoxy. They are also in great need for everything, even their daily bread is not guaranteed. Through your donations to Friends of Indonesia, they have received some support to help them continue their mission. Thank you.
